What is BRF? (Psilocybe Fanaticus Technique)

PF Tek, or Psilocybe Fanaticus Technique (if you’re not into the whole brevity thing), was developed in the late 20th century as an affordable, practical solution for home-based mushroom cultivation.

Week 1: This is where the magic happens! You’ll be preparing your jars, mixing your substrate, and inoculating with spores or Liquid culture. Cleanliness is key. You don’t want any other fungus crashing your party.

Weeks 2-4: The mycelium starts colonizing the jar. “Don’t-Rush-the-Mush”.

Week 5: The final stretch! After a full colonization, it’s time to birth the cakes and begin fruiting.

Maintain patience and in just a little over a month, you’ll be dining on the fruits of your labor and produce some beautiful fruits.

No heat or air conditioner blowing air around. Start by cleaning your work area. Wipe down the table, spawn

After you have your work area prepared, spray the air in the room you are working in with the disinfectant spray. Don’t be afraid to use a liberal amount. Look for the small piece of white tape on the bag just above the grains.

If you chose bags with self-healing injection ports, you would inoculate through the black or grey port. This will be your inoculation point. Gently clean the inoculation point with rubbing alcohol or diluted bleach solution.

You must do this every time you inoculate an individual.

If you use a candle or lighter there will be some black residue on the needle.

Simply wipe it with your alcohol pad. RUBBING ALCOHOL CAN EASILY CATCH FIRE AND CASUE BODILY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Let the needle cool briefly for 30 seconds or cool it with your alcohol pad. Now it is time to inoculate the bag.

Gently push the needle through the inoculation point on the bag. Depress the plunger on the syringe using 2-4 cc of spore solution per one pound bag.

Now you must swiftly cover the inoculation hole with your tape as you withdraw your needle. Now you should let the bag sit in ambient light or complete darkness at comfortable room temperatures.

Hot temperatures will promote bacterial growth and kill the mycelium. Comfortable room temperatures would be 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit.
